Gospel to the world
We believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the only hope for all of humanity and creation. As the church, we have been commissioned to proclaim and demonstrate this gospel in word and deed by the power of the Holy Spirit; to be on mission every day in our rhythms of life, seeking renewal in our relationships, workplaces, and neighborhoods.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound to proclaim the year of the Lord‘s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn; to grant to those who mourn in Zion—to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he may be glorified. They shall build up the ancient ruins; they shall raise up the former devastations; they shall repair the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.”
God’s heart in Isaiah 61 is for the rebuilding, restoration, and renewal of our broken cities. We see in 2 Corinthians 5:18 that Christ has reconciled us to himself and He has given to us the ministry of reconciliation to bring this plan of reconciliation to completion. This is the mission of God. God has invited us to partake in this mission and we are called to faithfully proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to the world both locally and globally. It is our hope that God would use Tapestry LA Church to bring healing to the brokenhearted and freedom to those enslaved in sin.
We are sent by Christ as missionaries to the world just as He was a missionary to us. In Christ, we have new life because He has reconciled us to God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through His work on the cross, our sins are not counted against us and the old is gone. In the same way, Jesus sends us to live this new vibrant life of restoration to God, others, and creation by being filled with the Holy Spirit, being set free from our self-centeredness, and procl
aiming this good news to others intentionally. By imitating Christ, people are able to see and experience what God is truly like. We hope to be faithful ambassadors of Christ by being missional in our communities through Jesus’ ways of truth, grace, and care. (John 1:14; John 20:21-22; Colossians 1:19-20; 2 Corinthians 5:16-21)
For the city
We believe that we are a sent community, called to bring renewal to the city around us. It is our hope that we would become good neighbors, investing and making disciples of those around us. However, the scope of our mission is not limited to our neighborhood. God sends us out to bring all peoples and nations under the lordship of Christ. We are committed to proclaim the gospel to the unreached people groups of the world.
LA Trade Tech. Wed. Dec.13 at 6 am. Meet in downtown to provide free coffee and donuts to the students at LA Trade Tech during their finals week. This was one step Tapestry wanted to take to bless our neighbors, the students at LA Trade Technical College. Seems simple...
Jeremiah 29:5-7 Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce. 6 Marry and have sons and daughters; find wives for your sons and give your daughters in marriage, so that they too may have sons and daughters. Increase in number there; do not...
This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jeremiah 31:33As followers of Christ in LA we are...
My name is Sophia and I am an intern at Living Water Church in Over-the-Rhine, Ohio. I literally and figuratively slammed the brakes on my life last year, quit my job, and packed my things in order to wholeheartedly pursue God at the beginning of 2017. At OTR, I am involved with several ministries, including: Kids Club, Sunday School, college ministry, drama ministry, Teen Girl Bible Study, tutoring, ESL, and hospitality.
- Pray that as I obey, I experience the fruit of the Holy Spirit (Gal 5:22-23)
- Pray that the staff and interns be united in the same vision and that we would act in one accord
- Pray that I may become better at managing my time as finding that balance between ministry and rest has been difficult
Hey, all. My name is Matt Shin and I came out to Singapore in June 2017 to help an AMI church called Grace Covenant Church Singapore. I am currently serving in the Young Adult, Children’s, and Finance ministries.
- Pray that I would win the battle in the secret place and choose to love and serve God each day.
- Pray that God would continue to shape me and mold me to be more like Christ.
- Pray for more opportunities to be a blessing to others and share the Gospel with them.
Hope all is well!
My name is James and I am serving at Grace Covenant Church in Singapore with Matt. Some of the roles and responsibilities that I have for the year are helping lead worship, preaching occasionally, and writing bible study material for our Family Groups to use.
- Pray that I would be able to cultivate a space and a time to spend in God’s presence daily.
- Pray for a teachable and humble heart.
- Pray for a sensitivity to the Spirit and a boldness to share the Gospel with others.
Another year is almost behind us. As I age, an aspect of faith that I increasingly appreciate is juxtaposition – i.e. two very different things placed side by side for contrasting effect. In the past year, I was honored to be named Tapestry’s first coordinator for our...

“Community” to me is like platelets that protect the wound by forming a scab where there is hurt. It gives a chance for everything underneath the skin to replenish and heal from its injury. In contrast to the joy of receiving healing, I’ve often feared the church...
